Theatre Technology course covers all aspects of technical theatre and backstage work including lighting, sound, stage management, set design, scenic construction, prop making. In order to develop your skills you'll work as technical and stage management crew on variety of productions and events, supporting theatre productions, music gigs, dance shows, musical theatre productions and film and TV events.
As well as working on in-house shows you'll also be given opportunities to work with industry specialists on work experience projects. Previous students have worked in entertainment company's Adlib Audio & Lighting, Merseysound and Wigwam. Previous students also work in theatres including West End Theatres, Liverpool Empire, Everyman/Playhouse, Epstein Theatre, Royal Court and The Unity.
Former students also work as freelance professionals within the entertainment industry.
The course is a 2 year course and follows the following format - 90 Credit Diploma (Year One): Production Planning, Production Workshop, Performing Arts Business, Assistant Stage Management, Deputy Stage Management, Lighting/Sound Operation, Technical Stage Operations, Period Props.
Extended Diploma (Year Two): Historical Context of Performance, Production for Theatre Performance , Lighting/Sound Design, Production Management, Set Design, Scenic Construction, Mask Making.
This course leads to further study in higher education or professional work in theatre or the entertainment industry in fields such as Production and Stage Management, Lighting and Sound Design and Operation, Set Design and Scenic Construction, Prop and Mask Making.
