Director of Technical Theatre: Ben Sumner
This new one-year Masters programme aims to bring together early-career theatre practitioners, including:
- Sound Designers
- Lighting Designers
- Production Managers
- Stage Managers
- Video Designers
These practitioners work together in creative teams on an exciting and varied array of theatre projects. The programme is not intended to deliver core technical skills, but rather develop your ‘theatre making' abilities, exploring your potential as a creative artist and enabling you to work with other students on a series of collaborative projects.
Developing Your Creative VocabularyOver the year teams will form and re-form, developing a creative vocabulary on a broad variety of projects. Some of these projects will be self-initiated within the cohort; others will forge connections with other creative artists. Some of the projects will link to the new MA in Opera Making and Writing where composers and librettists create short chamber operas over the course of a year; others will allow collaborations with the Leadership pathway of the Guildhall Artists Masters programme - working with musicians and performance artists. The programme also includes a three to four-week residential project.
