This is a highly practical degree with a balance of theory and production work, with opportunity to gain extensive first-hand experience of theatre practice in our excellent facilities.
Our pioneering Drama and Theatre Practice programme enables you to develop your talents as a performer, critic, writer, technician or designer in a friendly and supportive environment, with an emphasis on the practical and technical aspects of theatre craft. We have been teaching drama at Hull for 50 years and our graduates, which include Equity President Malcolm Sinclair, regularly go on to notable careers in theatre, TV and film.
From the start of this three-year degree, you will be engaging with dramatic texts, theatre history, modes of criticism and a wide range of performance practices. You also have the option of studying overseas - an exciting opportunity to widen your theoretical knowledge and practical skills of theatre craft as well as your cultural horizons - at a university in Italy, Germany, Cyprus or the Czech Republic. Our course also offers many optional modules, allowing you to tailor the degree to your specific career ambitions. The foundation year is ideal for students who do not have the academic requirements for direct entry on to the degree.
