.You can choose between a one and two year course. After having completed the one year course, which is equivalent to 1/1.5 A Levels, you can then progress on to the second year, which is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
Throughout this course you will explore a wide variety of performance and production arts subjects that will develop and build your abilities as a performer or producer. You will undertake a range of projects that include script writing, stage craft, lighting, technical theatre, and acting and performing skills. In the second year you will develop opportunities for individual creative expression within a performing and production arts context. By working collaboratively, you will stage productions that test and enhance your performance and technical skills.
You will be encouraged to take an experimental and open-minded approach to exploring ideas which challenge and develop your acting and stage craft ability.
This course will help you to develop independence within your chosen specialism in preparation for progression on to university or employment.Good English and maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.
It's also important to have good English and maths qualifications and so all students will study English and maths and work towards an appropriate level and type of qualification including GCSE. This will be part of all 16-18 year old students' Study Programme alongside their main vocational or academic qualification and will be discussed with students at interview.
You will be taught by performing arts specialists and practitioners who use their breadth of knowledge to support your studies. We have great facilities here at Croydon School of Art, with dedicated rehearsal spaces and a performance theatre.
This course will give you the opportunity to stage and perform in our purpose built theatre throughout the year. We work with a number of film, television, and theatre production companies as well as local groups as part of work experience. This allows you to gain a hands-on, professional experience of the performing arts industry.
A key distinguishing feature of the college is our links with employers and the ways in which we incorporate this into your learning. Employers attend our popular employability events and you can discuss Apprenticeships and progression opportunities in our Employability Hub or in the Apprenticeship Office.
